"I am Viviana*, I come from Venezuela and I am here with my husband and two of my children."
"When we came to Colombia, it was very hard to leave my other two daughters, even though one of them migrated to Brazil a few weeks after us..... My other daughter decided to stay and is studying medicine in Venezuela... However, it is very hard to leave your life behind."
Viviana*, has been living in Colombia for few months and she entered through the border with Norte de Santander. "We were doing well there, I went out to work on different things with my husband and everything was getting better, but ... we had to leave again, we left the little we had achieved and went to Bogota. We started working and my husband was calmer and happier.
The bad thing is that my children are basketball players, so we decided to move again to a city with a warmer weather. When we arrived here, we didn't have enough money to pay the rent and we were living on the street, we had already lost all hope and decided to get up and go out to look for options.
That day we were quickly attended to in a House of Justice, I felt that everything could get better. They referred us to the IOM services and they were able to study our case, we had access to health care and at this moment they are helping us to manage the Temporary Protection Permit - PPT".
The International Organization for Migration - IOM, together with the United States Agency for International Development - USAID support the implementation of the Temporary Protection Status for Venezuelans - ETPV, enhancing this strategy from a perspective of institutional strengthening for the management of a safe, orderly and regular migration, which turns it into a development factor for the country.
"As for me, I have a shared dream with my sisters and it is to start a sewing business, make our own designs and sell them. My husband wants to set up a bakery, at the moment we survive by making cheese sticks and we make deliveries on demand, with that we have been doing well," shares Viviana, as she dreams of a more secure future for her and her family.
